Science with LLAMA

An opportunity to bring together the international astronomical community in anticipation of a new high-altitude radio observatory

Large Latin American Millimeter/submillimeter Array (LLAMA) is a radio observatory being build in a collaboration between Argentina and Brazil. With the progress of the construction works and of the instrumental development, we invite the international astronomical community to discuss the scientific cases in which single dish radio telescopes operating at millimeter and submillimeter frequencies can make a decisive contribution to the astrophysics in the coming decades.

The event will be held in the beautiful city of Salta, located in the province of the same name (Argentina). Salta is about 160 km from the site where the LLAMA is being installed. The province of Salta is becoming a new world astronomical hub, taking advantage of extraordinary environmental conditions comparable to those in northern Chile. To this end, the inciative called "Salta, ventana al Universo" (Salta, window to the Universe) is being launched, consisting of scientific outreach actions, encourage for the technological innovation and environmental protection in the region.
